WARNING TO PUTIN: Poland to bolster military by 53,000 soldiers to ward off Russian threat

Poland is set to increase its military by 53,000 part-time soldiers

 

THE Polish parliament has given the go-ahead to bolster its armed forces by recruiting an extra 53,000 soldiers to ward off the possibility of a Russian attack.

The force, made up of part time soldiers, would represent a third of all the Polish military personnel.

The bill has not yet been approved by the senate but is expected to pass as the ruling right-wing government has a majority in the chamber. Continue reading

Chinese warplanes to join Russian air strikes in Syria. Russia gains Iraqi air base

The J-15 warplanes will take off from the Chinese Liaoning-CV-16 aircraft carrier, which reached Syrian shores on Sept. 26 (as debkafile exclusively reported at the time). This will be a landmark event for Beijing: its first military operation in the Middle East as well the carrier’s first taste of action in conditions of real combat.

Los Angeles creates ‘Cyber Intrusion Command Center’

LOS ANGELES, Oct 30 (Reuters) – Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, citing warnings by President Barack Obama and National Intelligence Director James Clapper about the threat of attacks on computer networks, on Wednesday announced the creation of the city’s first “Cyber Intrusion Command Center.”

The command center, which will be operated with the assistance of the FBI and Secret Service, will be staffed by cyber security experts who will scan the city’s computer networks for threats and quickly respond to breaches, according to the mayor’s office. Continue reading
