With no fanfare, just an abrupt announcement by the master of ceremonies, two dark, powerful J-20 jets rumble over spectators at the Zhuhai airshow

Two of China’s J-20 stealth warplanes swept over a gasping crowd at the Zhuhai air show on Tuesday, potent symbols of Beijing’s aspirations to military might.

China’s mysterious “Dark Sword” combat drone could become the world’s first supersonic unmanned aviation vehicle, reports the website of the country’s national broadcaster CCTV.

The Dark Sword — known in Chinese as “Anjian” — made quite a stir in 2006 when a conceptual model of the unusually shaped triangular aircraft made its debut at the Zhuhai Airshow in southern China’s Guangdong province. Continue reading

PLA’s JY-26 radar said to have detected US F-22 over S Korea

China’s JY-26 counter stealth radar, which is said to have successfully detected a US Air Force F-22 fighter over the skies of South Korea, was among five radar systems displayed by the PLA Air Force at the 10th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, also known as the Zhuhai Airshow, according to our Chinese-language sister paper Want Daily.
