Are These the ‘Last Days’?

(Melissa Barreiro/The Trumpet)

Look at world events, and it’s clear why many are asking this question.

Are we living in the “last days” described by the Bible? Some people will immediately answer: Surely not! Where are the supernatural heavenly signs? Where is the global cataclysm? This generation hasn’t even experienced a world war! So, because the biblical tribulation has not happened yet, neither is it going to happen. That’s how people reason.

But look at this world! Nuclear proliferation. Arms races. International terrorism. Mass beheadings. Sexual enslavement. Anti-Semitism. Racial division. Disease outbreaks. Economic implosion. Moral decay. Catastrophic storms, earthquakes and tsunamis. Then look at the Bible.

Compare the two, and you will begin to wonder: Are we living in the last days? Continue reading

Al Qaeda turncoat who helped US nail Al-Awlaki warns of more sleeper cells

A former Danish motorcycle gangster who joined Al Qaeda, only to become a double agent who claims to have helped the U.S. hunt down one of the terrorist organization’s top leaders, said this week’s attacks in Paris prove that sleeper cells are positioned around the west, ready to carry out fresh attacks.

Morten Storm, who, as an informant for Denmark’s national intelligence agency Security and Intelligence Service (PET), had first-hand dealings with Anwar Al-Awlaki while the U.S.-born cleric was head of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, said western countries must  protect themselves by canceling the citizenships of homegrown radicals who travel to the Middle East to fight or train. Once radicalized, homegrown jihadists can easily blend into society until given the signal to strike, he said. Continue reading

Iran: How long can debt-laden US remain world power?

“How long can a government with a $16,000 trillion foreign debt remain a world power?” he asked at a press conference with Kuwaiti media personnel. “The Americans have injected their paper wealth into the world economy and today the aftermaths and negative effects of their pseudo-wealth have plagued them.” Continue reading

War with Egypt Approaches

There are two obvious lessons from what is happening in Egypt. First, the land for peace formula is crazy. We gave land for peace and now that they have decided to destroy the peace, they get to keep the land. In the clip below they say their path to invasion goes through Gaza. So here too, they show that all the people who said that Gaza had no value to Israel were wrong twice. As the daily shelling from Gaza into Israel shows, our presence in Gaza prevented attacks on southern Israel. And as their declarations make clear, our presence in Gaza blocked a convergence of Palestinian and Egyptian forces in the Sinai which — with its 220 km border with Israel, is now the preferred launching point for attacks.

The second lesson is of course that all the enthusiasm over “Arab democracy” by Westerners, and particularly by conservatives desperate for a way to make war seem like a redemptive experience or something was irresponsible to the point of maliciousness.

We warned you over and over again that this would turn out badly. But you said we were wrong and indeed, somehow immoral to prefer Mubarak to “the people.”
