FBI: Iran to Launch New Cyber Attacks

Iranian cyber attacks on institutions

Iranian hackers poised for wide-ranging strikes in retaliation for U.S. leaving nuclear deal

The FBI is warning that Iranian hackers could conduct new cyber attacks on American businesses and government networks in response to the Trump administration’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.

“The FBI assesses foreign cyber actors operating in the Islamic Republic of Iran could potentially use a range of computer network operations—from scanning networks for potential vulnerabilities to data deletion attacks—against U.S.-based networks in response to the U.S. government’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA),” the FBI said in a cyber alert to U.S. businesses. Russia Threatens Retaliation If Washington Engages In “State Cyberterrorism”

In the latest startling revelation that the US and Russia are ever closer to a state of, if not “kinetic”, then certainly cyberwar, overnight NBC reported that U.S. military hackers had penetrated Russia’s electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin’s command systems, making them vulnerable to attack by secret American cyber weapons should the U.S. deem it necessary. As noted earlier, American officials have long accused Russia, China and other nations of probed probing and leaving hidden malware on parts of U.S critical infrastructure, “preparing the battlefield,” in military parlance, for cyber attacks that could turn out the lights or turn off the internet across major cities.

In any case, Russia responded to the report, and said that it expects Washington to provide an explanation if it is indeed true that Pentagon hackers have penetrated Russia’s power grids, telecommunications networks, and the Kremlin’s command systems for a possible sabotage.

US ‘Military’ Hackers “Prepare The Battlefield”: Breach Russia’s Backbone Ahead Of Possible Election Disruption

Five months ago, NATO announced that a cyber-attack by a non-NATO entity would trigger the “collective defense” provision, enabling grounds for a ‘kinetic’ real war. And now, in what appears a pre-emptive move to dissuade any attempts at election disruption, US officials claims U.S. military hackers have penetrated Russia’s electric grid, telecommunications networks, and the Kremlin’s command systems – making them vulnerable to attack.

Bill Gertz: Recent Russian Flybys Are ‘Unprecedented’

Senior Editor Bill Gertz discussed his recent stories on recent Russian jets buzzing United States Naval ships as well as threats to our electrical grid Wednesday evening on The Steve Malzberg Show on NewsmaxTV.

Malzberg asked Gertz how common the flybys are. On Thursday, a Russian jet, R-135, had come dangerously close to a U.S. surveillance plane. The plane had come within 50 feet of the naval ship. Continue reading

FBI Warns of Cyber Threat to Electric Grid

DHS intel report downplayed cyber threat to power grid

Three months after a Department of Homeland Security intelligence report downplayed the threat of a cyber attack against the U.S. electrical grid, DHS and the FBI began a nationwide program warning of the dangers faced by U.S. utilities from damaging cyber attacks like the recent hacking against Ukraine’s power grid.

The nationwide campaign by DHS and the FBI began March 31 and includes 12 briefings and online webinars for electrical power infrastructure companies and others involved in security, with sessions in eight U.S. cities, including a session next week in Washington. Continue reading

Cybercom sounds alarm on infrastructure attacks

The commander of the U.S. Cyber Command warned Congress this week that Russia and China now can launch crippling cyberattacks on the electric grid and other critical infrastructures.

“We remain vigilant in preparing for future threats, as cyberattacks could cause catastrophic damage to portions of our power grid, communications networks and vital services,” Adm. Mike Rogers, the Cyber Command chief, told a Senate hearing. “Damaging attacks have already occurred in Europe,” he stated, noting suspected Russian cyberattacks that temporarily turned out the lights in portions of Ukraine.

Adm. Rogers said that unlike other areas of military competition, Russia is equal to the United States in terms its cyberwarfare capabilities, with China a close second.

Mideast expert: Israel forced to consider attack on Iran

Now that belligerent Iran has now been given the green light, it wastes no time in showing its true colors and intent. Lifting sanctions has cleared the way for Iran to rise as a world superpower, or Bibically prophesied King of the South.

Long-time readers of Global Geopolitics will also remember it’s been said over the years here that Israel will be backed into a corner and have no choice but to carry out a preemptive strike. In short, this will set the Middle East on fire. Many nations will be involved such as Syria, who has a mutual defense pact with Iran. Turkey might also jump into the fray and take advantage of the chaos by attacking Syria, which might lead to a counter-attack from Damascus on the NATO nation, which means an attack on one is an attack on all. Furthermore, thousands of terrorist cells across the United States homeland will get the green light to carry out attacks — be it crowded shopping malls, hospitals, schools and so on. Expect massive cyber attacks on America’s critical infrastructure, financial system, etc…, too. Lastly, don’t forget, with the U.S. busy and distracted in the Middle East, China might launch an attack on Taiwan which could also lead the Asian giant into an exchange of fire against Japan and America.

Israel will also have to strike soon, possibly by the end of summer or fall of 2015, now that it seems Moscow is going to sell the Iranians missile defense systems than the S-300, as originally offered. This is likely why the IDF is launching massive military drills and calling up reservists as this is being written.

What’s more alarming is that, under the nuclear ‘deal’, the United States is now obligated to protect Iran by ensuring the physical security of its nuclear infrastructure. Yes, you read that correctly. Under Barack Obama, the United States is deliberately working against Israel. In the past, it’s been reported the Obama administration had also threatened to shoot Israeli warplanes down should they attempt to carry out an attack on Iran. Yes, you also read that one correctly.

It’s time for Israel to kill or be killed – and, on schedule and as planned, the Obama administration has provoked World War III where Israel will be set up to be seen as the evil aggressor and the cause of all the world’s ills.

The dynamite has been primed. What lights the very short fuse remains to be seen.

Nuclear agreement leaves Jewish state with little alternative

WASHINGTON – The nuclear agreement with Iran leaves Israel with little alternative but to launch a military attack against the Islamic regime’s nuclear facilities, a leading Middle East expert says in a report in Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

“Assuming the (agreement) goes through the U.S. government and the U.N. Security Council, it’s hard to see what the Israelis can do to protect themselves other than attack the Iranian facilities,” said Middle East Forum president Daniel Pipes in an interview with G2.

Pipes, a historian, writer and political commentator, said that he sees such an attack as “the next stage” and suggests Israel could receive the assistance of Saudi Arabia.

Russian analyst urges nuclear attack on Yellowstone National Park and San Andreas fault line

A Russian geopolitical analyst says the best way to attack the United States is to detonate nuclear weapons to trigger a supervolcano at Yellowstone National Park or along the San Andreas fault line on California’s coast.

The president of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems based in Moscow, Konstantin Sivkov said in an article for a Russian trade newspaper on Wednesday, VPK News, that Russia needed to increase its military weapons and strategies against the “West” which was “moving to the borders or Russia”.  Continue reading
