Russia flies 2,000 mercenary troops into Syria

 

Russia is engaged in a major buildup in Syria, both in support of the de-escalation zones established in conjunction with the United States, and in order to solidify its military control of the country.

debkafile’s military and intelligence sources reported exclusively on Wednesday, August 2, that 2,000 mercenaries had just been airlifted into the country, boosting to a total of 5,000 the number of mercenaries on hire from the Wagner Group private contractors for service under the Russian flag in Syria. S-400 missile defense strength doubled in Russia’s far east

Another top notch S-400 missile defense system has been deployed to Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula. The new generation weapons with a range of up to 400 kilometers can bring down small planes and nuclear charged ballistic missiles.

Thirty-six units of military hardware that make up one S-400 ‘Triumph’ (NATO codename SA-21 Growler) regiment were delivered to Kamchatka in the Far East from Southern Russia by sea. Russia starts reinforcing naval fleet in Crimea

Sevastopol (AFP) – Russia announced Wednesday that it had begun expanding and modernising its Black Sea fleet based in Crimea with new ships and submarines, just months after annexing the peninsula from Ukraine.

“Today we have started forming a powerful Black Sea fleet with an absolutely different level of air service, coastal missile and artillery troops and marines,” said Alexander Vitko, the Black Sea fleet commander, in a message to servicemen. Continue reading
