Pacific Ocean life devastated by Fukushima radiation: Fisheries populations have crashed 91 percent

Earlier this week, Michael Snyder sent an urgent warning that the bottom of our food chain is going through a massive collapse, with 91% of the sardine population being wiped out in just the last eight years. Due to the extremity of the decline, the Pacific Fishery Management Council voted to direct the NOAA Fisheries service to halt the current season immediately, which will affect approximately 100 fishing boats with sardine permits.

Like colony collapse disorder, this is not a simple matter of managing a minor problem so that the ecosystem and benefits related to it can be enjoyed in the future. This is a NOW issue, which was reflected by the emergency closure of fisheries along the West Coast in mid-April. Continue reading

Earthquake fault heightens California tsunami threat, experts say

The earthquake fault cuts through the heart of Ventura’s quaint downtown, past the ornate hilltop City Hall and historic Spanish-era mission before heading into the Pacific Ocean.

For decades, some seismic experts believed the Ventura fault posed only a moderate threat and was incapable of producing a major temblor.

But research in recent years shows that the fault is extremely dangerous, capable of producing an earthquake as large as magnitude 8 as well as severe tsunamis that until now experts didn’t believe were possible from a Southern California quake.

Such a big earthquake on the fault estimated to occur every 400 to 2,400 years, experts said. The last sizable quake on the Ventura area hit about 800 years ago. Large temblors occur on this fault less frequently than on the San Andreas fault, which has long been considered the state’s most dangerous. Continue reading

California Is Turning Back Into A Desert And There Are No Contingency Plans

US Drought Monitor California 2015

Once upon a time, much of the state of California was a barren desert.  And now, thanks to the worst drought in modern American history, much of the state is turning back into one.  Scientists tell us that the 20th century was the wettest century that the state of California had seen in 1000 years.  But now weather patterns are reverting back to historical norms, and California is rapidly running out of water.  It is being reported that the state only has approximately a one year supply of water left in the reservoirs, and when the water is all gone there are no contingency plans.  Back in early 2014, California Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency for the entire state, but since that time water usage has only dropped by 9 percent.  That is not nearly enough.  The state of California has been losing more than 12 million acre-feet of total water a year since 2011, and we are quickly heading toward an extremely painful water crisis unlike anything that any of us have ever seen before. Savage: Media ‘hiding’ illegal-alien disease threat

After earning his doctorate in 1978 and writing six books, Savage pitched to publishers a book titled “Immigrants and Epidemics,” which he wrote with the dean of a “prestigious public health university.”

Although all my previous books had done well,” Savage recalled, “all publishers in New York City in 1982 said we cannot publish a book on immigrants and epidemics, no matter how well (documented) or factually true it is. We can’t publish it for political reasons.

The rejection angered him, he said, and was one of the reasons he eventually decided to go into talk radio, in 1994.

Since then, he said, “I’ve been trying to warn Americans about what unscreened immigrants will be bringing into America.”

‘You’re not going to hear this’

As thousands of illegal-alien children, prompted by President Obama’s policies, overwhelm the capacity of southern border states, Border Patrol agents who essentially have been turned into child caretakers are being exposed to disease, Savage said.

“Right now, you’re not going to hear this, but we have Tuberculosis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, Chagas disease – previously eradicated from Southern California – on the rise and testing positive in … Border Patrol agents,” Savage said.

Other diseases emerging among Border Patrol agents, he said, include H1N1 Swine flu and chicken pox.

Speaking to his critics, Savage pointed to his academic qualifications.

“It’s easy for you to say I’m simply an alarmist or a racist, I’m a this-ist or a that-ist,” he said. “Well you’ve got it all wrong. The only “ist” I am is an epidemiologist. I am not a racist. I am not an alarmist. I am an epidemiologist by training.” Continue reading

‘The Big One’ Earthquake Will Hit L.A. Harder Than We Thought, Scientists Say

  • Simulation of a magnitude-7 quake on the San Andreas Fault. Seismic waves radiate outward, then deep into L.A.

A  seismology study by scientists from Stanford and MIT, published in the journal Science on Friday, finds that if the Big One hits the San Andreas Fault near Palm Springs, some seismic waves will travel near the path of the 10 Freeway into the heart of Los Angeles, where the city and its suburbs will suffer stronger ground motions than previously believed. Downtown L.A. will endure three times the shaking of surrounding areas, scientists now say. Continue reading
