Russia’s Sarmat 100-ton ballistic missile may be test launched in 2016-2017 — source

MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. The 100-ton ballistic missile Sarmat may be test launched in one or 1.5 years after its drop tests that are planned for 2015, a Russian defense industry source told TASS on Thursday.

“If everything goes according to plan during the drop tests, if they pass successfully, then in a year or 1.5 years the missile will be test launched,” the source said.

Makeyev working on heavy ICBM and possible new SLBM

The first two deployment sites for Russia’s Sarmat heavy liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) programme will be in Orenburg oblast (presumably to re-equip 13th Missile Division headquartered at Dombarovskiy) and in Krasnoyarsk kray (presumably to re-equip the 62nd Missile Division headquartered at Uzhur), according to Strategic Rocket Forces (SRF) Commander in Chief Colonel General Sergey Karakayev.

Sixteen Yars missile launchers to be placed into service this year

MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. The Russian strategic missile troops will place 16 Yars intercontinental ballistic missile launchers into service this year, the troops’ commander Sergey Karakayev said on Friday.
