Movement grows to transfer land from federal government to states
The federal government owns 28 percent of the land in the United States, according to a report from the Congressional Research Service.
“Federal land ownership is concentrated in the West,” explains the service. “Specifically, 62% of Alaska is federally owned, as is 47% of the 11 coterminous western states. By contrast, the federal government owns only 4% of lands in the other states.” Continue reading
