Russian troops ‘fighting alongside Assad’s army against Syrian rebels’

Russian troops are fighting alongside pro-Assad forces in Syria, state television in Damascus and several reports have claimed.

The video footage claimed to show troops and a Russian armoured vehicle fighting Syrian rebels alongside President Bashar al-Assad’s troops in Latakia.

It is reportedly possible to hear Russian being spoken by the troops in the footage.

Russian Soldiers Hold Over 1,000 Winter Drone Exercises – Defense Ministry

Southern Military District’s press service announced that Russian military personnel have carried out more than 1,000 tactical and special exercises using drones during the winter training period.

“During the winter training period in South Ossetia’s Dzartsemi and North Ossetia-Alania republic’s Tarskoye training grounds the military base units carried out more than 1,000 tactical and special exercises using unmanned aerial vehicles,” the press release said. Continue reading

Russia unveils plans for new anti-missile system, 5th-generation fighter jet

Russia is developing a fifth-generation unmanned fighter jet and a completely new missile defense system which can simultaneously engage several supersonic targets in space, it has been revealed at the MAKS-2013 airshow.

The fifth-generation unmanned aircraft, weighing in at around 20 tons, takes after the T-50 fighter jet, with most of its characteristics modeled after it, Mikhail Pogosyan, president of Russia’s united aircraft-building corporation, told RIA Novosti at the MAKS-2013 show in Zhukovsky, just outside Moscow, which displayed the latest in air combat technology.
