The July 16 summit in Helsinki, Finland, between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin offers a unique opportunity to de-escalate Cold War 2.0 between the United States and Russia.

Ahead of the summit, several reports have detailed a new alarming trend of Moscow’s rapid modernization efforts to improve its westernmost military facilities in Kaliningrad, a strategic enclave of Russian territory situated between Poland and the Baltics.

Last month, the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) published satellite images revealing significant upgrades to a nuclear weapons storage bunker situated at a secret facility in Kaliningrad. Continue reading

The latest World War 3 update has revealed Russia’s plans of attacking the United States in the coming 15 days while German army proceeds towards the Russian border.

It has been discovered that President Vladimir Putin’s nation has initiated warships that are now cruising close to the North Sea while they plan to cross one mile from British shores in the English Channel. On their way to the Mediterranean, they would launch supportive operations in Syria. Continue reading

50 officers including Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk have reportedly been fired in a Stalin-style bloodletting

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin has taken a page out of Joseph Stalin’s book — and sacked every commander in his Baltic fleet.

As many as 50 senior officers including a Vice Admiral have been purged amid reports they refused to confront Western ships.

Other Russian news sites also speculated that attempts to cover up a crash between a Russian sub and a Polish boat may have been behind the bloodletting. Continue reading

Kaliningrad

The Russians have poured over 10,000 troops, an air and missile defense system, and various warships into Kaliningrad as well perhaps as short-range nuclear-capable missiles. It’s all part of an overall Russian military buildup in recent years that, combined with NATO downsizing, gives Russia conventional military superiority in the Baltic. Whether Russia’s aim is strictly defensive, an aggressive move against the three former Soviet Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), an attempt to humiliate and weaken NATO or some combination of the above is for the West a matter of debate—and of worry. How not, after Russian moves in Georgia, Crimea, Ukraine, and Syria? Military historians, however, might focus on the ironies. Continue reading

S-400 missile defense strength doubled in Russia’s far east

Another top notch S-400 missile defense system has been deployed to Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula. The new generation weapons with a range of up to 400 kilometers can bring down small planes and nuclear charged ballistic missiles.

Thirty-six units of military hardware that make up one S-400 ‘Triumph’ (NATO codename SA-21 Growler) regiment were delivered to Kamchatka in the Far East from Southern Russia by sea. The Defense Ministry says it’s already been unloaded and taken to its permanent location near the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Continue reading

Russia planning to send nuclear-capable bombers to Crimea, missiles to Poland border

MOSCOW — Russia plans to station state-of-the art missiles in its westernmost Baltic exclave and deploy nuclear-capable bombers to Crimea as part of massive war games to showcase its resurgent military power amid bitter tensions with the West over Ukraine.

The Russian military exercises this week range from the Arctic to the Pacific Ocean and involve tens of thousands of troops, the Defence Ministry said Tuesday. Continue reading

Massive Air Defense Exercises Begin in Siberia, Baltic Sea

MOSCOW, February 2 (Sputnik) — The Russian Baltic Fleet’s air defense force repelled an airstrike using S-300 air defense systems, the Western Military District’s press service announced. Continue reading

Russian military completes rapid-deployment drills in Kaliningrad

Amid this exercise and many more that already transpired throughout 2014, it sounds like someone’s gearing up for a blitzkrieg on Ukraine, plus preparing for defensive measures against any counter-attack. From a military standpoint, Ukraine is crucially strategic. It allows for Russia to be on Europe’s doorstep or NATO to be on Moscow’s doorstep. 2015 should be quite an interesting year if the end of 2014 won’t.

Lest we forget what one of Putin’s henchmen stated: They must strike first and carpet bomb all the way into the Baltic states and even Poland — half an hour before NATO even wakes up.

Should that ever transpire, NATO will be effectively dead as an organization and kicked out of Europe within days.

The drills took place December 5-10, the head of the main Operation Directorate of General Staff, Lieutenant General Andrey Kartapolov announced on Tuesday. Military units and formations deployed in the Western Military District were brought to their highest level of combat readiness at 7 p.m. Moscow time on December 5.

Tactical Iskander-M ballistic missile systems of the Western Military District’s missile brigade were rapidly transferred from Russia’s mainland to conduct off-the-march combat training tasks. Within two days, two brigades were deployed in Kaliningrad by the military transport aircraft and vessels of the Baltic Fleet. Continue reading
