Russia to hold military drills in Egypt this month

“The joint Russian-Egyptian drills will happen in mid-October 2016 on the territory of Egypt,” it said, without specifying their start date.

The drills, called “Protectors of Friendship-2016”, will include 500 troops, 15 planes and helicopters and 10 military hardware units, the ministry said, describing the exercises as “anti-terrorist”. Continue reading

Over 5,000 paratroopers to take part in command post exercise in west and central Russia

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Over 5,000 paratroopers will take part in the command post exercise that started on Monday in Russia’s western and central parts, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Russian Airborne Troops chief says paratroopers ready to help Syria in combating terrorism

Taking down Syria (via U.S.-created ISIS) is key to taking down Iran, which whom it has a mutual defense pact with. If Russia loses either one of these allies, they will have no say in the Middle East and therefore diminished capacity on the world stage.
