The son of a founding revolutionary of the Chinese Communist Party has penned an open letter, published in a Hong Kong newspaper, telling Chinese leader Xi Jinping to end one-Party dictatorship and transform China into a democracy.
“If you really want to eliminate corruption,” writes Luo Yu, who is now 71 and lives in the United States, “the only way is to introduce democracy in a gradual and orderly fashion.”
“China is beset by crises: a crisis in faith, morality, the environment, the economy, finance, education, medicine, and natural resources,” Luo continues. “Why? The root of all the problems is the one-Party dictatorship of the Chinese Communist Party.” Continue reading
China has formed numerous special teams as part of an emergency plan to deal with the aftermath of a potential collapse of North Korea’s political regime, reports the Tokyo-based Kyodo News.
Citing internal Chinese military documents compiled last summer — several months after North Korea conducted its third nuclear test in February — Kyodo News claims that the People’s Liberation Army has called for boosting surveillance capabilities across the China-North Korea border in the event that a collapse of Kim Jong-un’s regime will spark a massive influx of refugees into China. Over 300 Russian Marines are onboard a flotilla of at least five warships from Russia’s Baltic Fleet and the Black Sea Fleet en route to the Syrian coast in the Mediterranean, both Russian and Israeli sources have confirmed.
