Some things never change, it’s true, especially in the affairs of nations. But if we forget, or never knew, or never understood the immutable nature of the fundamental debate over our character and destiny — of the fundamental threat to our character and destiny — we certainly are at risk of losing both.

Billionaire EU supporter tells Europe to take in ‘at least a MILLION’ refugees every year

This falls into the case where immigration is used as a means of economic warfare. Statistically, the situation is not sustainable.

EUROPEAN Union supporter George Soros has claimed Europe should take “at least a million” refugees every year and let them choose where they want to live.

The human rights activist, who is a notable backer of the European Union, called on the EU to accept more refugees and cover the cost of housing health care and education for each refugee for the first two years.

The billionaire businessman was last week accused by Hungary’s prime minister of deliberately encouraging the migration crisis.

Uncertainty about the immediate future seems to permeate most societies around the world. Few look far beyond the immediate. But what is now being put in place with the current global upheaval will form the basis of the strategic framework for the coming decades.

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was quoted as saying that “if you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”. Updating this in The Art of Victory, I noted: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will lead to disaster.” And the hallmark of the world entering 2015 is that there are few governments which actually have defined goals of a comprehensive or “grand strategy” nature. Many governments have short- to medium-term projects and plans, but few, if any, have a contextual view of themselves and have articulated measurable national goals into the mid-term (20 years or so) and longer periods.
