Italy Declares War on Merkel and the EU

 

If there were ever any doubts that the leaders of the Euroskeptic coalition that now runs Italy has a plan to defy the European Union its proposed budget should quell them. Both Deputy Prime Ministers, Luigi Di Maio of Five Star Movement and Matteo Salvini of The League, were adamant about locking horns with European Union leadership over all issues of sovereignty between now and May’s European Parliamentary elections.

Their budget proposal which included both tax cuts and universal income blew past the EU budget limit of 2.0% of GDP, coming in at 2.4%. It has put their Finance Minister, Giovanni Tria, in a difficult position because Tria doesn’t want to negotiate this budget with Brussels, preferring a less confrontational, read more pro-EU, approach.

Ironically, as the article mentions the European Army, it could come to fruition in the form of compromise. America created ISIS to take Syria down. Ukraine was also swiped away from Russia in order to keep the Soviets from forming a wedge between NATO and a Germany’s Fourth Reich-dominated Europe.

In return, Russia has sent nuclear-capable missiles in Kaliningrad, it’s strategic enclave right in the Mediterranean. Now as Russia’s making it known it can have a substantial and strategic military foothold right next to the heart of Europe, European leaders might find themselves joining the team instead of trying to beat them.

Russia is playing the Wests game and winning. Eventually the West will be kicked out of Europe as Germany wants to stand on its own and finds that in its best interests it should side with Russia and combine forces.

So, if you’re looking at an European Army, Russia could very well be part of the strategic shift taking place as we speak. Only time will tell how it actually forms, but it’s clear at this moment that a shift is heading in this direction.

 

Just days after Russia lifted sanctions on providing anti-aircraft missiles to Iran, Reuters reports that The Greeks are in talks with Russia to purchase missiles for the S-300 defense system. Greece, a NATO member, has been in possession of the advanced Russian-made systems since the late 1990s and in a defiant show of independence towards Troika, is now negotiating with Russia for the purchase of additional missiles and for their maintenance.

Greece Ousted from Index of ‘Developed’ Countries

The latest setback for Greece: booted the euro-zone member from its index of developed countries.

The decision, announced late Tuesday, is the first time the index provider demoted a country from its “developed” to its “emerging-market” category since the launch of its flagship emerging-markets index in 1987.

It affirms what investors have believed for years. Multiple bailouts by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund, a sharp contraction in gross domestic product and a still-large debt burden mean Greece now has more in common with Hungary than France.
