Russia ready to use Hyperloop technology — transport minister

You can without a doubt expect this dual-use technology to have military application (military deployments, faster ICBM launches) in some way or another, in the future.

SOCHI, May 20. /TASS/. Russia is ready to implement such infrastructural projects as the construction of the Hyperloop network of high-speed trains for freight transportation, Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said on Friday.

“Probably, Russia is ready as no other country for the implementation of this project,” the minister said at the Russia-ASEAN summit in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

China ‘matching US’ in race to develop Chinese ‘Hyperloop’, says researcher

China and the United States are “neck and neck” in the race to develop military applications for an ultra high-speed “Hyperloop” transport system, according to a Chinese researcher involved in one of the projects.

The technology under development would involve loading passengers into pods and projecting them through vacuum tubes at high speeds.

The researcher said some of the research in China and the US was funded by the military as the technology may have defence applications. Continue reading
