Russia is developing a new generation nuclear-powered naval destroyer that will pack more firepower than anything the US Navy can offer.

Though still on the drawing board, the new Lider-class nuclear destroyer is expected to displace more water than its existing Sarych-class analogue and will boast the firepower of a cruiser.

Russia and Indonesia sign defence co-operation agreement

The presidents of Russia and Indonesia have signed a defence co-operation accord in Sochi, it was reported on 19 May.

Full details of the agreement signed by presidents Vladimir Putin and Joko Widodo were not disclosed. But the heads of state said in a joint statement that they had agreed to widen contacts between defence ministries and security agencies and to conduct an exchange of intelligence information. Pentagon Stands By Russian Arms Deal

The issue here shouldn’t be over training, it should be that the United States is now relying on Russia for military hardware.

MOSCOW, July 18 (RIA Novosti) – The Pentagon has no plans to halt a $550 million deal with Russia to acquire helicopters for the Afghan Special Mission Wing, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said Thursday.

In late June the Special US Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction urged the Pentagon to put the deal on hold until the unit was fully recruited and properly trained. Continue reading
