Russia buys 300,000 ounces of gold in March and nears 2,000t in gold reserves
– Russia now holds just over 1,861 tonnes, more than officially reported by China at 1,842t
Both Russia and China have the power to destabilise US dollar by dumping dollar-denominated assets
– Turkey has removed all gold held in the U.S. opting for Bank of England and BIS
– Turkey follows trend set by both Germany, Netherlands and others to remove gold reserves stored in the United States
– Central bank decisions regarding gold reserves are examples of countries becoming nervous about the outlook for the dollar under the Trump administration

Russia bought another 300,000 troy ounces of gold in March bringing Russia’s total gold reserves to 1,861 tonnes or 60.8 million troy ounces as of the start of April, the central bank announced loudly at the weekend.

The continuing robust and steady accumulation of gold reserves continues and it was notable how Russian media channels loudly (more loudly than usual it seemed with many outlets covering) pronounced the continuing diversification into gold bullion by the Russian central bank. It suggests that gold is being used as a bulwark to protect Russia from the stealth financial, trade and currency wars which appear to be deepening. Continue reading

Russia’s on the Way Back

Yellen and Nabiullina

Russia is poised to break out of its oil-related slump and become one of the best performing emerging markets economies in the years ahead. This sleeping giant is breaking its dependence on oil prices and embraces diversified growth.

When you hear the name “Russia” you probably run for cover. Russia has been the subject of nearly continuous media coverage bordering on frenzy since the election of Donald Trump last November. Continue reading

How China Will Trigger a Global Stock Market Crash

The Chinese government has engineered a global stock market crash that could strike at almost any time, but at most is no more than a few years away.

After all, we know the Chinese embrace long-term plans to manage their economy; they’ve used five-year plans since the 1950s. And we know China has spent years building up its gold reserves. Continue reading

https://i0.wp.com/www.goldcore.com/ie/wp-content/uploads/sites/19/2015/10/Bundesbank-reserves.png

The central bank said its gold reserves amount to 3,384 tonnes of gold worth just €107 billion at today’s prices.

The move is the latest by the central bank, which is in the process of trying to move its gold reserves back to Germany after the eurozone sovereign debt crisis broke out in 2012 and led to public concerns and questions about the safety of Germany’s gold reserves. Continue reading

Gold Repatriation From Federal Reserve Would Shatter US Economic Hegemony

Repatriation of foreign gold reserves from the Federal Reserve would undermine the geopolitical role of the US economy in the world.

The largest gold reserve stored by the Fed belongs to Germany, at 674 tons. On the whole, the country holds nearly 3,500 tons of gold. However, both sides were content with the situation: the US received money for storage, and Germany knew its reserves were finely protected. Continue reading

Russia has been building its gold reserves as part of a continuing effort to reallocate its reserve portfolio.

“Russia has been aiming to diversify its forex reserves for some time, but that process was accelerated by sanctions against the country last year,” said Martina Bozadzhieva, head of research for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Frontier Strategy Group. Continue reading

Opinion: Why China probably has a lot more gold than it admits

China has lifted a veil over its gold holdings and confirmed its interest in providing more up-to-date reserves data by announcing a near 60% jump in its official bullion assets since 2009.

The declaration on Friday, in a Chinese language announcement on the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) website, appears a judicious attempt to show more statistical transparency as China modernizes its international currency arrangements. Continue reading

Texas Launches Gold-backed Bank, Challenging Federal Reserve

The State of Texas is setting up a gold-backed bank that will allow depositors to bypass the controversial Federal Reserve System and its fiat currency in banking and commerce, according to the state representative who authored the recently enacted law. Under the measure, passed overwhelmingly by lawmakers and signed in mid-June by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, Lone Star State officials will establish and operate the Texas Bullion Depository for anyone who would like to deposit and trade in precious metals. The implications are as big as Texas.

While some analysts have said the move may be another sign heralding Texas’ eventual secession from the union, or preparation for financial Armageddon, its advocates say the depository simply makes financial sense. Among other benefits, the institution will provide more options to consumers weary of the increasingly troubled traditional banking and monetary system, which is viewed by the public with growing suspicion. And experts say the effect of making it easier to use sound money in commerce could be far-reaching. Continue reading

China could crash US dollar with 30,000 tons of gold: commentary

China has the ability to crash the unstable US dollar with 30,000 tons of gold reserves, says Chinese economic observer Jin Zihou.

In a commentary posted online, Jin noted that former US Federal Reserve chair Alan Greenspan once said that the renminbi could become unexpectedly powerful in today’s financial system if Beijing would convert its US$4 trillion in foreign reserves into gold.

With the US dollar growing more unstable and China being America’s largest creditor, Beijing could potentially crash the US dollar with 30,000 tons of gold, Jin said. Continue reading

Who’s Got the Gold?

In 1971, the US abruptly went off the gold standard, and in making the public announcement, US President Richard Nixon looked into the television camera and said, “We’re all Keynesians now.”

I was a young man at the time and had previously bought gold, albeit on a very small scale, but I recall looking into the face of this delusional man and thinking, “This is not good.”

However, the world at large apparently agreed with Mister Nixon, and within a few years, the other countries also went off the gold standard, which meant that, from that point on, no currency was backed by anything other than a promise.

Repatriation of Gold from Fed Suggests Historic Vote of No Confidence

Since 2012, there’s been an unprecedented call from foreign nations to repatriate their gold from Federal Reserve vaults in the U.S. This is an incredible development given many countries’ 71-year reliance on the Fed as a custodian for their bullion. Over the last few years, countries including, but not limited to, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Ecuador, Finland, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Romania have either formally requested repatriation of their gold or are in discussions with the Fed about it. Some of these nations, mind you, have held more than 50% of their entire reserves of bullion in the U.S. since 1944, when the Dollar became the world’s reserve currency.

Something huge must have happened in the last few years to prompt such action. That something may be a break in foreign gold holders’ trust in the Fed as a custodian of their precious metals. Continue reading

US Financial Analyst Predicts Inevitable Collapse of US Economy

The fact that Russia bought another 30 tons of gold earlier this week, bringing its total gold reserves to 1,238 metric tons should make the United States worried, said Todd Wood, the author of the book “Currency” and a contributing writer at the Washington Times.

Russia is now the fifth-largest holder of gold reserves, according to the IMF. Moscow is increasing its gold reserves to strengthen the value of its own currency, the ruble. The smart move, Wood argues, adding that Russia is “preparing for the day when the tables will turn” and the world will see the decline of the Western economic power. Continue reading

Currency Wars Back As Russia Buys One Million Ounces of Gold in March

– Russia buys one million ounces and increases gold reserves by another 2.6% in March
– Russia sees gold as important monetary and strategic asset in stealth currency wars
– Large purchase by Russia who normally buy some 300,000 ounces a month
– Russian gold reserves, at nearly 40 million ounces, are now fifth largest in the world
– Russia likely coordinating gold reserve accumulation with ex-Soviet States
– Concerns regarding euro and crisis in erstwhile reserve currency, the dollar
– Gold remains central to international monetary system
– Central banks continue to accumulate large volumes

Russia increased its gold holdings by one million ounces in March, bringing its total reserves to nearly 40 million ounces or 1,238 metric tonnes. The Russian one million ounce gold purchase is a large one even by Russian standards as in recent years they have consistently been buying roughly 300,000 ounces per month.

Since 2005, Russia’s gold reserves have increased three-fold. As a comparison, in the second quarter of 2009, Russia only had 550 tonnes of gold in its official reserves meaning that their reserves have doubled in recent years. Continue reading

Geopolitical Situation Most Dangerous Since WWII – Rothschild

Lord Rothschild characterized the geopolitical situation in the world as the most dangerous since the end of WWII, warning investors about a forthcoming crisis.

“We are confronted by a geopolitical situation perhaps as dangerous as any we have faced since World War II: chaos and extremism in the Middle East, Russian aggression and expansion, and a weakened Europe threatened by horrendous unemployment, in no small measure caused by a failure to tackle structural reforms in many of the countries which form part of the European Union,” wrote Jacob Rothschild, a British investment banker and a member of the prominent Rothschild family, in an annual Strategic Report of RIT Capital Partners plc (RIT).
