In the past days there have been dozens of separate attacks in Egypt, from the Sinai up to Cairo. Probably more than 60 people have died, when the Egyptian army used F16 fighter jets to protect itself against it disgruntled population.
It is clear that the Egyptian rulers are not going to be able to contain the current situation, today could be marked as the start of Egypt’s civil war.

In 2013 the first elected president of Egypt was removed by the army. There are clear signs that anti-democratic forces were deliberately destabilizing Egypt before the coup d’etat in 2013. In the running up of the July 3th coup by General Sisi an artificial oil shortages was created that contributed to the mass protest against the elected president of Egypt.
The new army coup was financially supported by the Saudi rulers while the West was mute, the only vocalized opposition came from Turkey’s ruler MrErdoğan.
Washington was silent about Egypt’s coup and even resumed the delivery of military hardware to the Egyptian rulers, at the same moment Morsi received the dead penalty during a mock process. The situation in Egypt will be much worse than the situation that we saw in Algeria in 1992. Continue reading
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu entangled himself Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, in the net he had cast to blur the effect of the unanimous decision by the security-political cabinet of Friday to turn down the ceasefire proposals proposed by US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Netanyahu tried to present the flat cabinet “no” to the ceasefire as a “no, maybe.”
His purpose was to leave an opening for the US and UN to ginger up their pro-Hamas framework for ending hostilities in the Gaza Strip by incorporating elements that Israel’s security needs half way. Egypt’s Defense Minister Gen. Abdul-Fattah El-Sisi, 59, announced Wednesday, March 26, that he had resigned from the army after 45 years in order to run for president. No date has been set for the election, but it is expected to take place no later than July. His popularity as a strong leader in a country that craves stability above all after three years of turmoil is such that he can count on winning.
debkafile’s military sources disclose that in recent weeks Gen. El-Sisi took time off to create a new rapid intervention force as a powerful vehicle for buttressing his regime.
Maj. Gen. Tawfik Abdel-Samei, head of the Egyptian army’s central command, was chosen to head the force. He and El-Sisi handpicked 10,000 of the most able commando fighters from the various army units and consolidated them through intense courses into a special airborne force. Massive protests in Egypt are coming to a head today, as a military deadline for Egypt’s president, Mohammed Morsi, to come to a resolution with protesters is set to expire. Morsi said in a speech last night that he would not back down to the threat of a military coup. Updates below.
What’s next: The Egyptian army is expected to issue a statement at 9:30 a.m. ET, shortly after its 48-hour deadline expires, reports AFP.

(Reuters) – Egypt’s army commander and Islamist President Mohamed Mursi each pledged his life to defy the other as a deadline approached on Wednesday that will trigger a military takeover backed by protesters.
The military chiefs, wanting to restore order in a country racked by protests over Mursi’s Islamist policies, issued a call to battle in a statement headlined “The Final Hours”. They said they were willing to shed blood against “terrorists and fools” after Mursi refused to give up his elected office.

This is essentially not a military coup. What this is, is the leftover establishment from the Mubarak era, which helped to maintain a stable level of peace within the Middle East for over 30 years during his rule. What’s being attempted now is nothing more than stopping extremist groups, such as Muslim Brotherhood, from a full takeover and creating instability throughout the country as well as the region. The Muslim Brotherhood also makes no secret of the fact, like Iran or Syria, that they want war with Israel. Only time will tell (or 48 hours in this case) what kind of end result we get, as it’s unknown how much of the Egyptian military has been infiltrated or influenced (by Islamic extremists) to the extent that they can or cannot take the country back.

A senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) rejected on Monday the army’s 48-hour ultimatum for politicians to settle the country’s political standoff.
“Everyone rejects the statement of the armed forces,” Yasser Hamza, a member of the FJP’s legal committee, told the Al Jazeera network. Continue reading
