India, China troops in high-altitude clash: Officials

SRINAGAR: Indian and Chinese troops clashed briefly on a disputed area of land in the Himalayas, officials said on Wednesday (Aug 16), exacerbating tensions during a months-long stand-off between the two armies.

Chinese troops threw stones at Indian soldiers near Pangong Lake, a major tourist attraction in the picturesque mountain region of Ladakh on Tuesday, an Indian defence official said.

He said Chinese soldiers had twice tried to enter the Indian territory but had been pushed back. Continue reading

NORTH Korea leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly ordered residents of the country’s capital Pyongyang to leave the city immediately, sparking fears he may be preparing for war.

Reports in Russian newspaper Pravda Report claim more than 600,000 people – around 25 per cent of the city’s population – are being urgently evacuated, as tensions escalate between North Korea and the United States.

According to South Korean media, residents in the kingdom have said goodbye to each other, sparking concerns the tyrannical leader could be about to act after months of nuclear weapon testing. Continue reading

Chinese Soldiers Have Laser Guns!

The BBQ-905 is another Chinese laser rifle that could eventually be offered for export, perhaps to foreign police forces (China is looking to sell other direct energy weapons for ‘law enforcement and counter-terrorist missions’.

 

The official PLA Daily December 9th 2015 edition announced that Chinese soldiers are now in possession of laser guns. This was not a counter to the success of Star Wars: Force Awakens, but rather the revelation of new responses to the spread of new technology like unmanned systems. Continue reading

Chinese and Indian troops in Himalayan standoff

China’s Ministry of Defence said the two sides’ understanding of the line of the border was not the same

Hundreds of Indian and Chinese troops have dug into positions on a high Himalayan plateau, leading India’s army chief to cancel a foreign trip and monitor a standoff that underscores deep differences between the Asian giants as they seek closer ties.

Military officials in New Delhi and Kashmir said on Tuesday that Chinese troops set up a camp about 3 km (2 miles) into territory claimed by India in the Chumar region of the Ladakh plateau more than a week ago.

Indian soldiers have set up their own base nearby and have been told not to back down, the officials said. Continue reading

China, US armies to begin joint disaster exercise

Specifics of the exercise scenario starting Tuesday have not been publicly released. U.S. Army Pacific officials have only described it as a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation requiring U.S. and China military cooperation in a fictional third country.

On Thursday, U.S. and Chinese soldiers will train in a field exercise at Bellows Air Force Base, on a Marine Corps training area on the east side of Oahu. Continue reading

Members of the PLA who will be learning weak spots and crisis procedure during a time of emergency apparently don’t throw up red flags for U.S. intelligence agencies or the military.
