Maneuvering missile takes evasive actions

China this week carried out another test of a new high-tech hypersonic glide vehicle, an ultra high-speed missile designed to deliver nuclear weapons and avoid defenses.

The latest test of what the Pentagon calls the Wu-14 hypersonic glide vehicle was carried out from the Wuzhai missile test range in central China. The test was judged successful, according to defense officials familiar with details of the event.

Additionally, officials said the glide vehicle, which travels along the edge of the earth’s atmosphere, demonstrated a new capability: evasive actions.

Current U.S. defenses are designed to track missiles that travel in predictable flight paths and are unable to counter maneuvering warheads and glide vehicles. Continue reading

China Conducts Third Flight Test of Hypersonic Strike Vehicle

Missile-launched Wu-14 glide vehicle designed for nuclear strike against U.S. through missile defenses

China conducted the third flight test of a new hypersonic missile this week as part of its strategic nuclear program and efforts to develop delivery vehicles capable of defeating U.S. countermeasures, defense officials said.

The flight test of the developmental Wu-14 hypersonic glide vehicle was monitored by U.S. intelligence agencies Tuesday during a flight test in western China.

The latest flight test followed earlier tests of the Wu-14 on Jan. 9 and Aug. 7. The three tests indicate that China’s development of a strike vehicle capable of traveling up to eight times the speed of sound is a high-priority element in China’s large-scale military buildup. Continue reading

Pentagon Concerned by China’s New High-Speed Missile

China’s recent test of a new ultra-high speed strike vehicle highlights growing concerns that Chinese military advances will overtake those of the United States in as few as five years, a senior Pentagon official told Congress Tuesday.

Frank Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics, said during a House Armed Services Committee hearing that he is concerned by large-scale cuts in U.S. defense spending that are undermining efforts to maintain U.S. military superiority.

“On hypersonics, this is a good example of an area of technology that is going to move forward whether we invest in it or not,” Kendall told a hearing on the United States shift toward Asia. “China is doing work in this area.” Continue reading

Chinese Defense Ministry Confirms Hypersonic Missile Test

Since the Chinese are already competing with the latest US technology and not trying to catch up, it’s only a short matter of time before America loses its edge and first-strike capability. Having all the latest warplanes or navy tech doesn’t matter if you can’t stop a missile — a missile that they will likely mass produce since they have over 95% of the world’s rare earths under contract, plus the ability to hide it under thousands of miles of nuclear-hardened tunnel systems.

The Chinese are now running parallel wih America and this is proof. Sadly, most of America is unaware and those that do know are either turning a blind eye or are supressed by the Obama administration.
