BRASILIA/RIO DE JANEIRO: Far-right lawmaker Jair Bolsonaro won Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday, promising to clean up politics, shrink the state and crack down on crime, in a dramatic swing away from the left in the world’s fourth-largest democracy.

The former army captain has alarmed many with vows to sweep political opponents off the map and comments denigrating women, gays and racial minorities.

He will be the first president with a background in the armed forces since the end of Brazil’s 1964-1985 military dictatorship, which he has publicly praised. He has tapped retired generals to serve as his vice president and run key ministries.

In his first public comments after his landslide victory, he pledged to respect democratic principles, but said he wanted to change the country’s direction.

“We cannot continue flirting with socialism, communism, populism and leftist extremism … We are going to change the destiny of Brazil,” Bolsonaro said in an acceptance address, promising to root out graft and stem a tide of violent crime. Continue reading

More AI-Based Religions Rising Up

Replacing Christianity with an artificial intelligence-based “religion,” or “augmenting” it with technology are the aims of several competing groups.

Artificial intelligence expert Anthony Levandowski has been making headlines of late with his goal of creating an AI-based “godhead,” but he’s not alone in that effort.

The former Google AI engineer developed The Way of the Future specifically to supplant the Christian godhead, which he believes will be accomplished in the next quarter-century. This contrasts with Kopimism, which finds “spiritual connection” in gathering all the world’s information and sharing it with everyone else. Continue reading

In North Korea Crisis, Russia and China Hold the Cards

These two nations are the reason why North Korea is able to operate so freely and dangerously.

After the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously on September 11 to increase sanctions on North Korea, the United States tried to portray it as a victory for the American-led efforts to neutralize the North Korean threat. But the UN’s move actually showcases the influence of Russia and China and shows that these two nations hold the cards on North Korea. Continue reading

Iran’s Past and Future Presence in Latin America

Investigations into past Iranian terrorist attacks in Argentina reveal the extent of its terror network in Latin America and its determination to sponsor global chaos.

On July 18, 1994, a Hezbollah suicide bomber operating under directions from Iran, rammed a truck laden with 600 pounds of explosives into the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (amia) building—a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires. The ensuant blast killed 85 people and wounded more than 300 others.

Nearly 22 years later, the amia bombing remains as the worst terrorist attack in Argentine history, and it is largely unsolved. But the bombing is arguably the most revealing of the extent of Iran’s terror outreach beyond the borders of the Middle East.

As Iran has expanded and spread its acts of terrorism and its hatred for Jews all over the Earth, even right up to the United States’ backdoor, it simultaneously has worked hard to cover its tracks and present itself as a pragmatic international partner. Terrifyingly, Iran has scored some successes: The world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism is now essentially an ally of the U.S. and the West.

Time will prove that to be a fatal mistake. Continue reading

‘F— America!’ Muslim woman makes terror threats at LAX

‘I will make sure we bomb America. You have no idea what’s happening

Just one day after 49 people were murdered in an Islamic terror attack at a “gay” nightclub in Orlando, Florida, a Muslim woman at Los Angeles International Airport was caught on video making terrorist threats against the U.S. and blasting homosexuals.

On June 14, video journalist Tony Vera recorded an interview with the self-professed worshiper of Allah who had just been searched and released by police outside LAX.

The Rise and Fall of a Superpower

An article from 2000 with lessons for today:

Building the Panama Canal was one of the greatest chapters in American history. It helps to reveal how America became a superpower, if we understand the complete history. Today we see an almost totally different spirit in our leaders. The meaning behind that change contains the strongest warning ever for America!

How much do Americans understand their own history? We are called the world’s greatest superpower ever! But how did we rise to such heights? Most Americans are ignorant of how it all happened. And that ignorance places us in grave danger!

Our building and now surrendering of the Panama Canal reveals a large part of the story. It gives a powerful insight into the rise and fall of the world’s greatest superpower.

President Theodore Roosevelt led our people to build the Panama Canal. He had a spirit and courage that I don’t see in our leaders today.

Communism – at the core of Common Core

(TRUNEWS) Many Americans are fed up with Common Core but don’t understand the true agenda – to promote communism.

Chaplain Ray Moore has studied the program extensively and was a guest on Tuesday’s edition of TRUNEWS with Rick Wiles.

He said the goal is evidenced by the fact that Common Core does not have absolutes, even in math.  Working in groups and a forming a “collective state of mind” is a more important goal than coming up with the correct answer.

Trumpet Daily: Identifying America and Britain in Prophecy

Could the Bible ignore the world’s greatest superpower—or the most dominant empire in history?

Where do you find the U.S. and British peoples mentioned in Bible prophecy? One-third of the Bible is prophecy—and 90 percent of it is for today! So would the Bible simply ignore the greatest superpower this world has ever seen? And is the greatest, most dominant empire in the history of this world somehow missing from the pages of the Bible?

U.S. military ‘hostile’ to Christians under Obama; morale, retention devastated

Michael Berry, senior counsel at the Liberty Institute, a Texas-based legal organization dedicated to defending religious liberty in America, said recent high-profile cases of military chaplains facing punishment for private counseling sessions that reflected the teachings of their religion could cause devout Americans who are qualified for military service to think twice about joining the military.

In December, a chaplain for a Ranger training battalion received an administrative letter of concern after a soldier complained that he advocated Christianity and used the Bible during a mandatory unit suicide-prevention training session. The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers said the chaplain “used his official position to force his personal religious beliefs on a captive military audience” in an article the group posted on its website. Are These the ‘Last Days’?

(Melissa Barreiro/The Trumpet)

Look at world events, and it’s clear why many are asking this question.

Are we living in the “last days” described by the Bible? Some people will immediately answer: Surely not! Where are the supernatural heavenly signs? Where is the global cataclysm? This generation hasn’t even experienced a world war! So, because the biblical tribulation has not happened yet, neither is it going to happen. That’s how people reason.

But look at this world! Nuclear proliferation. Arms races. International terrorism. Mass beheadings. Sexual enslavement. Anti-Semitism. Racial division. Disease outbreaks. Economic implosion. Moral decay. Catastrophic storms, earthquakes and tsunamis. Then look at the Bible.

Compare the two, and you will begin to wonder: Are we living in the last days? Continue reading

Italy to push for ‘United States of Europe’ when it holds the EU presidency

In addition to a push for a ‘United States of Europe’ lead by Germany via the EU and its control over the ‘Troika’, calls for a ‘European Army’ have already been made in the past by member nations such as Poland and Italy. What may seem like science fiction or a joke nobody will take serious today is tomorrow’s reality, and as the addage goes: the truth is stranger than fiction. Although a lot of EU nations don’t like each other at the moment, the further integration of iron and clay (Daniel 2:43) continues to be their only solution. With Italy’s high involvement, and even with the Vatican, it’s reminiscent of the WWII era connection between the church and the German leadership. Or better yet, the Holy Roman Empire of the past.

Look for calls of a European Army to grow, especially as resurgent Russia is on the doorstep and the United States is suicidally fading away from the world stage. As with all nation building, the political structure comes first, then the economy. After the economy comes the military. The Fourth Reich is coming.

Italy will use its presidency of the European Union to push for a “United States of Europe,” the prime minister has said

Matteo Renzi, the Italian prime minister, has said that Italy will push for a “United States of Europe” during its six-month EU presidency, in a move likely to raise hackles in Britain.

Launching an appeal to convince European leaders to show “that a stronger and more cohesive Europe is the only solution to the solve the problems of our time“, Mr Renzi said: “For my children’s future I dream, think and work for the United States of Europe.

He further called for “courageous leaders” to work towards achieving that goal – something that Britain has always objected to. In 1988 Margaret Thatcher, then prime minister, dismissed the idea that the United States might be a model for the future of Europe and David Cameron is actively trying to prevent the election of a committed federalist, Jean-Claude Juncker, to the head of the European Commission.

High-ranking Iranian cleric visits Shiraz synagogue, confirms Biblical version of Jewish homeland

Even if this was part of the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani’s campaign of smiles for the West, the visit to the Shiraz synagogue Friday night, May 1, by the head of his assistant for minority affairs, Hojat- Islam Ali Yunessi, was especially noteworthy. He was the first high-ranking Iranian cleric to visit a Jewish synagogue in a decade and, moreover, he delivered a speech in praise of Iran’s ancient Jewish community’s successful coexistence with other groups.

But most remarkably, he admitted that historical research and archeological excavations in the last 150 years had corroborated the Biblical account of the deeds of the Persian emperor Cyrus the Great (550-530 BCE).

(The Bible recounts that Cyrus issued a fabled decree for the emancipation of slaves, including the Jewish people, from Babylonian captivity, and allowed them to return to their homeland in Judah and rebuild their Temple in Jerusalem.) Continue reading
