Iran Vows to ‘Follow N. Korea’ Nuke Pathway After Deal Decertification

Iran will not renegotiate landmark accord

Senior Iran leaders praised the North Korean regime this weekend and claimed the Islamic Republic is encouraged to follow Pyongyang’s nuclear pathway following the Trump administration’s decision last week to decertify Iranian compliance with the landmark nuclear agreement.

Iran Threatens to Restart Nuke Program

Iran on Tuesday threatened to restart its contested nuclear program in violation of last summer’s international agreement if the United States and other countries fail to move forward with a massive sanctions relief program aimed at bolstering the Iranian economy, according to comments by a top Iranian leader.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chair of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission, warned that the Islamic Republic would “resume large-scale uranium enrichment” if leaders feel the international community is not doing enough for Iran under the nuclear deal.

Iran hints it may still attack Israel over general’s death

A top Iranian official said on Monday that his country still has the right to avenge itself against Israel for an apparent IDF strike in Syria that killed an Iranian army general, despite a Hezbollah retaliatory attack last week that took the lives of two Israeli soldiers.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who chairs the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said in an interview with the Al-Manar television channel that Iran reserves the right to respond to the January 18 attack on a convoy near Quneitra on the Syrian Golan Heights.

Iranian Drones May Soon Fly Over Mexican Skies?

At least that’s according to Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the influential chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee in Iran’s parliament, who recently led a delegation of Iranian lawmakers on a 4-day trip to Mexico. The trip, which reportedly was the first of its kind since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, came at the invitation of Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, head of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Mexican Senate, who herself visited Iran on a couple of occasions this year.

The most concrete result of the trip was the signing of a memorandum of understanding promoting stronger economic, cultural and political ties between Iran and Mexico. The two sides also reportedly agreed to expand their cooperation in the oil sector.

Upon returning, however, Boroujerdi also said that Mexican officials had expressed interest in purchasing drones from Iran to use in its war against drug cartels.

Iran says U.S. has no objections to installation of advanced centrifuges

NICOSIA — Iran has asserted that the West accepted the use of Teheran’s latest gas centrifuge for the nation’s nuclear program.

Officials said the P5+1 approved Iran’s enhancement of its nuclear energy and research program. They said this included the testing and installation of advanced centrifuges for uranium enrichment.

“The [use of] new generation of centrifuges for research purposes was the most important remaining issue in the talks between Iran and the P5+1 in recent months,” Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said.
