Breaking the tie between oil and the U.S. Dollar means the collapse of the U.S. Dollar as the world reserve country. One month ago, the bond market and political pundits did a double take when according to the latest Treasury International Capital report, Russia had liquidated virtually all of its US Treasury holdings, selling off the bulk of its US government bonds in just two months, March and April.

And with the US threatening to impose a new set of “crushing” sanctions on Russia, including in retaliation for the alleged Novichok nerve gas attack in the UK, Russia not only intends to continue liquidating its US holdings, but to significantly reduce its reliance on the US Dollar. VLADIMIR Putin’s envoys in the UK have refused to respond to Britain’s ultimatum over the chemical attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury. In a statement on Twitter the Russian embassy threaten retaliation if Theresa May was to respond with “punitive measures”.

Theresa May earlier issued Russian President Vladimir Putin  24 hours to respond to claims that Russia was “highly likely” behind the attempted murder of Mr Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

The ultimatum has sparked World War 3 fears as Whitehall sources revealed the Prime Minister could launch a cyber attack on Russia in the wake of recent events. Continue reading

Moscow may force European airlines to fly around Russia

(Reuters) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev threatened on Tuesday to retaliate for the grounding of a subsidiary of national airline Aeroflot because of EU sanctions, with one newspaper reporting that European flights to Asia over Siberia could be banned.

Low-cost carrier Dobrolyot, operated by Aeroflot, suspended all flights last week after its airline leasing agreement was cancelled under European Union sanctions because it flies to Crimea, a region Russia annexed from Ukraine in March.

“We should discuss possible retaliation,” Medvedev said at a meeting with the Russian transport minister and a deputy chief executive of Aeroflot. Continue reading

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says her agency knew of Russia trip by alleged Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev

WASHINGTON — The government knew that alleged Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev traveled to Russia last year, but his return six months later was not flagged  because an FBI alert on him had expired, Homeland  Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Tuesday,

“The system pinged when he was leaving the United States. By the time he  returned all investigations… had been closed,” Napolitano told the Senate  Judiciary Commitee.

Committee member Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had said he was told by the FBI  that the agency did not know of Tsarnaev’s departure because the Russian airline  Aeroflot misspelled his name in a passenger record. Continue reading
