US Hypersonic Aircraft Will Not Catch Russia Flat-Footed

The all-new Voronezh-class radar stations are able to spot and track America’s hypersonic aircraft designed to bypass Russia’s missile warning system. Until very recently the trajectories of these “fast runners” were impossible to register, much less to track.

Right now the Pentagon is developing several hypersonic vehicles as part of the DARPA Falcon Project. The Advanced Hypersonic Weapon (AHW), which accelerated to about 6 kilometers a second during flight tests in 2015 and 2016, is in the final stages of development now. Continue reading

China Conducts Fourth Test of Strategic Nuclear Delivery Vehicle

China this week conducted the fourth successful test of a new hypersonic vehicle which is capable of delivering nuclear strikes and may be able to render US anti-missile defense systems “obsolete.”

The test of the Wu-14 hypersonic strike vehicle was carried out Sunday, launched atop a ballistic missile fired from a test facility in western China, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

The vehicle executed “extreme maneuvers” that intelligence officials say are meant to test the ability to dodge US anti-missile defense systems. Continue reading
