Top Russian Scientist: ‘Fear A Deep Temperature Drop — Not Global Warming’

The sun defines the climate, not carbon dioxide. So says eminent Russian space scientist, Habibullo Abdussamatov (Dr. Sc. – Head of Space research laboratory of the Pulkovo Observatory). Also Head of the Russian/Ukrainian joint project Astrometria, Abdussamatov (pictured) is featured on page 140 of the 2009 U.S. Senate Report of More Than 700 Dissenting Scientists Over Man-Made Global Warming.

Below Dr Abdussamatov explains why carbon dioxide is “insignificant” in climate change (translated from Russian by Lucy Hancock). Continue reading

Massive Shark Die-Off on California Coast is Alarming Researchers

Mass marine animal die-offs have become regular news in recent years, especially along the western coast of the America’s where it is quite common to hear of pods of whales or other animals mysteriously perishing in great numbers.

Most recently along the coast of California, primarily around the San Francisco Bay area, an alarming number of sharks are dying, and officials are at a loss as to why. For the past three months, thousands of dead leopard sharks have been washing up on shores in the bay, and their decomposing bodies may be making the problem worse. Continue reading

TV: Huge number of sea creatures washing up dead along West Coast — “It’s a crisis all along Southern California… large numbers getting sick and dying” (VIDEO)

KGTV transcript, Jun 6, 2017: Now to a developing story — large numbers of sea animals getting sick and dying off our coast… But we’re not alone, it’s a crisis all along the Southern California coast… Stranded dolphins have washed ashore… Clarissa Anderson of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at U.C. San Diego: “The numbers of sea lion strandings we have seen is pretty extreme and a huge number, of not only animals, but a wide variety of species of marine birds have stranded… a lot of deaths… The reality is it is happening all over Southern California simultaneously.”

TV: Millions of dead sea creatures wash ashore in Hawaii — Carcasses found along miles of beach — “That should trigger some alarm” — “I don’t know what’s going on over there… I’ve never seen anything like this” (VIDEOS)

KGMB, May 4, 2017 (emphasis added): Tens of thousands of crustaceans wash ashore along miles of Mokuleia beaches — There’s an odd pink tint to the sand along Mokuleia thanks to tens of thousands tiny crustaceans that have washed ashore.  But what the creatures are and where they came from is a bit of a mystery. “I don’t know what’s going on over there. But I’ve never seen anything like this,” said resident said Elisah Rivera. “And it’s millions, it’s not thousands, it’s millions. We actually walked all the way along the way, and it went all the way, about two miles down.”… Continue reading

Everyone on Earth has been irradiated by Fukushima — “Shocking new study reveals true extent of global impact” — “Scientists are only just now confirming far-reaching effects” of nuclear disaster

New Scientist, May 5, 2017 (emphasis added): Fukushima accident gave everyone an X-ray’s worth of radiation — “We don’t need to worry,” says Nikolaos Evangeliou at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, whose team has conducted the first global survey of radiation exposure caused by the meltdown of three nuclear reactors at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear plant… Evangeliou’s team has calculated the approximate exposure of everyone on Earth to two radioactive isotopes of caesium… He has estimated the dose that most individuals received to be 0.1 millisievert. “What I found was that we got one extra X-ray each,” says Evangeliou… But Evangeliou says that the effects on wildlife around the plant might be more severe. Already, he says, increased levels of radiation around Fukushima have been linked to declines in bird populations there between 2011 and 2014. “There have also been reports of declines in other species such as insects and some mammals,” he says… Continue reading

Peak of Fukushima radiation now moving to West Coast — Levels much higher than predicted — Huge red blob of nuclear waste near shore — San Francisco area being hit hardest — Concern over Iodine-129 with 15 million year half-life (MAPS)

Feiro Marine Life Center, Apr 18, 2017 (emphasis added): Speaker Series: Studying Fukushima Radiation off the Coast of North America — The Integrated Fukushima Ocean Radionuclide Monitoring (InFORM) project is a partnership between academic, government, non-governmental organizations, and citizen scientists to monitor the arrival of Fukushima-derived contamination, cesium-134 (t1/2 = ~2 years), cesium-137 (t1/2 = ~30 years), and iodine-129 (t1/2 = 15.7 million years) in the open Pacific and Arctic Oceans and North American coastal waters. In response to public demand, monitoring began in the fall of 2014, when models predicted the arrival of radionuclide contamination from the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident. Monitoring efforts will capture the peak of the radionuclide contamination, predicted to occur in our waters… Contamination levels continue to be below levels that are known to represent a significant threat to human or ecosystem health. KSBY, Apr 26, 2017: Marine mammals statewide becoming infected with brain-rotting toxinA high number of marine mammals in California are falling victim to a brain-rotting toxin… In Santa Barbara County, rescue centers are reporting hundreds of cases. With this outbreak potentially spreading, the Marine Mammal Center in Morro Bay is stocking up on medicine… scientists will be keeping a close eye on what’s happening with these mammals to monitor how else it will affect the marine food chain. Officials: Melted fuel still leaking out of Fukushima reactor — Likely escaping from opening at bottom of containment vessel — Gov’t experts want to give up sending in robots to search for molten cores — “Disaster the likes of which has never been known”

Asahi Shimbun, Mar 24, 2017: Some Nuclear Regulation Authority members are skeptical of continuing to send robots into reactors in the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant… These regulators are increasingly calling for a new survey methodology after recent investigations utilizing robots controlled remotely generated few findings and were quickly terminated… The lower part of the reactor’s containment vessel is submerged in water where deposits of fuel debris are believed to reside below the surface after melting through… TEPCO and the government… have yet to collect information on the location, amount and condition of the melted fuel… [T]he surveys centering around the robots so far have failed to produce meaningful results. ‘Zero recovery’ for Great Barrier Reef corals in back-to-back bleaching

An aerial view of bleaching in the Cairns-Townsville region of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef AFP/Ed ROBERTS

Researchers said last month they were detecting another round of mass bleaching this year after a severe event in 2016, and their fears were confirmed after aerial surveys of the entire 2,300km long bio-diverse reef.

Last year, the northern areas of the World Heritage-listed reef were hardest hit, with the middle-third now experiencing the worst effects.

“Bleached corals are not necessarily dead corals, but in the severe central region we anticipate high levels of coral loss,” said James Kerry, a marine biologist at James Cook University. Continue reading

I have never in my life dreamed that it could get this bad,” said Thomas P. O’Rourke Sr., Chairman of the Yurok Tribe… The bleak 2017 forecast is linked to a three-punch combination, comprised of two straight years of extremely elevated juvenile fish disease levels, diminished river conditions and poor ocean health… “We are in crisis mode… [this is] the most terrible fisheries disaster in the Tribe’s history,” said Chairman O’Rourke.
