DEBKA Reports A Military Operation Involving Forces Currently In Syria Will Soon Begin.
According to a new report published Tuesday afternoon, Israel is preparing for a first-ever direct assault on its territory by Iranian forces.
The independent intelligence and security journalists at DEBKA are reporting there is a “growing conviction” within Israel’s strategic leaders that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are preparing a military operation. That operation, they report, would be intended to punish the Jewish state for its April 9 attack on Syria’s T-4 base, which was home to the IRGC’s drone command and control center.
DEBKA also reports that April 9 airstrike was not the first direct confrontation between Israeli and Iranian forces:
“In fact, the Israeli air force struck a group of Iranian commanders on a secret visit to Quneitra opposite Israel’s Golan border on Jan. 18, 2015, killing two Iranian generals, Mohammad Ali Allah Dadi and Abu Ali al-Tabtabani. And in the following year, on July 26, an Israeli rocket attack aimed at and missed another secret visitor to Quneitra, Iranian Gen. Mohammad-Reza Naghdi.”
