You just knew it was coming! Open borders Angela Merkel has come out and thrown her weight behind establishment poodle Emmanuel Macron in France as he goes head-to-head with the pro-Frexit Marine Le Pen.
The German Chancellor has made it clear that she has “a certain preference” for Macron to win the French election and he will no doubt then try to help her keep the failing EU from crumbling completely.
None of this should come as much of a surprise given the EU has taken the extraordinary step of interfering in a national election to back Macron, with him promising to clamp down on any resistance to the EU project in return.
