As mentioned quite a few times in the past, Russians love to use wars to test their new toys. This is why they love keeping Chechnya unstable. It’s the gift that keeps giving to the Russian military.
RUSSIA has tested more than 160 new weapons since intervening in Syria last year, the Kremlin revealed today.
Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said the systems included Su-30SM and Su-34 fighter jets and Mi-28N and Ka-52 helicopters.
He told senior Russian officials: “During the operation in Syria, 162 advanced and upgraded weapons have been tested in combat.
“They have proven to be highly efficient.”
And he claimed Russia’s involvement in the war-torn country has “prevented the disintegration of the Syrian state”.
It has also “launched a process for reaching a political settlement and reconciliation between warring parties”, the minister said.
Vladimir Putin ordered his men to intervene last year to help Syrian president Bashar al-Assad defeat Islamic State.
