KIM Jong-un has warned the US that North Korean missiles are now capable of hitting American territory after the rogue state conducted a “successful” weapons test.
The tubby tyrant boasted of Pyongyang’s “sure capability” to destroy US targets in the Pacific after testing a medium-range missile yesterday.
Two Musudan rockets were fired from inside the secretive nation’s borders – the first catastrophically failed, but the second flew 250 miles before crashing into the Sea of Japan.
Despite initial claims that both tests had failed, Kim said it showed North Korea’s “sure capability to attack in an overall and practical way the Americans in the Pacific operation theatre”.
Experts said Pyongyang appeared to have launched the second missile on an unusually high trajectory so that it would avoid violating Japanese air space.
Jeffrey Lewis, from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California, said: “The missiles are usually test-fired at a flatter angle to maximise their range.
“That suggests the missile worked perfectly.”
“Had it been fired at its normal angle, it would have flown to its full range.”
