The video, circulated Sunday, features an apparent replacement for Mohammed Emwazi, the British-accented man known as “Jihadi John” who was killed in a drone strike in Syria in November. He had figured prominently in earlier IS propaganda videos.

Infamous Islamic State executioner “Jihadi John” was killed by a crack team of Special Air Forces commandos, ending a yearlong operation to find the high-value target responsible for the brutal murder of several Western hostages, the British Daily Mail reported at the time.
In November, US officials said drone strikes had targeted members of a group of English-speaking Islamic State fighters known as “the Beatles” in Syria, killing at least one British man.
