PLA to deploy HQ-6 missile battalion to Hong Kong

The People’s Liberation Army has decided to deploy the HQ-6 surface-to-air missile system to the Shek Kong Barracks in Hong Kong, reports the latest issue of Kanwa Defense Review, a Chinese-language military magazine based in Canada.

Kanwa said the PLA will deploy a HQ-6 battalion of six launch vehicles, a search radar and three tracking radars to Hong Kong. With the search radar, a HQ-6 battalion can track up to 60 aerial targets as far as 50 kilometers away and attack four of them simultaneously.
