China’s maritime police are scheduled to hold a live-fire drill in waters off the southeastern Chinese city of Xiamen Thursday, a move that Taiwan said it has been aware of and will follow closely.
The Chinese maritime police will hold the live-fire exercise in an area off Xiamen from 7 am to 5 pm Thursday, according to a notice issued Tuesday on the website of China’s Maritime Safety Administration, warning ships against entering the area and urging nearby boats to exercise caution.
