PLA Navy carries out exercise in the Western Pacific

The Changchun, a Type 052C destroyer, the Changzhou, a Type 054A frigate, and the Chaohu, a Type replenishment ship from the East Sea Fleet of the People’s Liberation Army Navy, successfully carried out an exercise in an unknown region of the Western Pacific on July 19, according to China Military Online operated by the PLA.

The three Chinese warships went through the Miyako waterway located between the Japanese islands of Miyako and Okinawa before arriving at the waters where they began the exercise. Lu Feiyun, the commander of an unknown destroyer division participating the exercise said that the event was a routine exercise launched to prepare the sailors of the East Sea Fleet to operate in the open sea. “It gives them a perfect opportunity to test their vessels and equipments,” said Lu.
