After a report by the Pentagon confirmed that China has tested its DF-31B intercontinental ballistic missile, the website of the Moscow-based Military Parade indicated that the People’s Liberation Army has tested the missile at least twice in last three months.
The Second Artillery Corps, China’s strategic missile force, is estimated to have about 40 DF-31 and DF-41 ICBMs with the range to strike the continental United States. The Moscow-based Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported earlier that the DF-31B tested in September is a multi-warhead version of the orginal DF-31 missile.
The range of the DF-31 is estimated to be between 8,000 and 11,700 kilometers, giving China effective second-strike nuclear capability against the United States. The DF-31B is likely to have an even greater range.
