Ukraine, Turkey discuss prospects for cooperation in Turkish missile project

Kyiv, June 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine and Turkey are considering the possibility of cooperation in the creation of a Turkish missile system, a source in the Ukrainian space industry has told Interfax-Ukraine.

Bilateral cooperation in the Turkish missile project was discussed during the talks recently held in Istanbul with the participation of Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Yuriy Alekseyev, Ukroboronprom Director General Serhiy Hromov and Turkish Defense Ministry’s Advisor Murad Bayar.

“The sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including the creation in Turkey of a joint space center and a testing ground for air defense systems,” he said.

The source said that the sides also discussed the supply of Ukrainian engines for Turkish-produced armored vehicles.

According to open sources, Turkey is planning to create a ballistic missile system with a range of 2,300 kilometers.
